About Us

Having been on a journey into our family history, The Snowball family originated from the Viking clan that arrived in Durham. We have a strong past and a strong presence and all of the symbols have a great presence in many of what people believe in and follow today.

To the Vikings, Norse symbols were far more than decoration—they were sacred conduits to fate and spirituality, the two forces that governed every aspect of Viking life. To have fate on one’s side could mean the difference between victory and death, and the presence of the gods needed no exaggeration; their power was absolute and ever-present.

This deep reverence is why Norse symbols became inseparable from Viking culture, and why nearly every piece of Viking jewellery bore a symbol tied to divine protection, destiny, or strength.

The Vikings believed these symbols carried real power. In moments of danger and uncertainty, they wanted that power close at hand. They endured brutal heat and freezing cold, relentless wind and rain. They crossed unforgiving seas, fought countless battles, and lived each day knowing survival depended on the favour of fate and the gods.

For this reason, sacred Norse symbols were engraved into their jewellery, painted across their shields, stitched into their clothing, and carved into their ships—constant reminders that they did not stand alone.

They believed fate walked beside them.
And the gods sailed with them.
